Content Policy

What we publish, and what gets removed.

Trust is the whole point. These rules govern reviews, photos, owner replies, claims, and the moderation actions we take. They apply equally to customers, owners, and our own team.

Reviews

A review is publishable when:

  • You actually experienced the service or product.
  • You describe specifics: what you ordered, what you paid, what stood out.
  • You don't disclose private information about staff or other customers.
  • It isn't traded for compensation: discounts, free meals, payment.

We remove reviews that are:

  • Defamatory, abusive, or threatening.
  • Conflicts of interest (your own business, a competitor, family member).
  • Generic praise or complaints with no specifics; these score low automatically.
  • Off-topic: about a different business, or about the platform itself.

Photos

  • Yours, or licensed for use. No reposting from Instagram or others without consent.
  • No identifiable people without their knowledge (staff, other diners).
  • No NSFW, gore, or hate imagery. Automated classifier flags; humans confirm.
  • EXIF location is stripped on upload to protect your privacy.

Owner replies

  • One reply per review. Edit or remove it any time.
  • Don't disclose private customer information (names, bookings, payment details).
  • Don't threaten legal action in the reply; handle that off-platform.

Claims

  • Claim only businesses you genuinely own or represent with permission.
  • Be specific in the verification notes; vague claims are rejected.
  • Misrepresented claims result in immediate de-listing and account ban.

Admin holds and removals

When content is flagged, we may hide it temporarily while a human reviews. You will see a clear status on your own dashboard if your content is held. Removals come with a reason and a path to appeal by email. We do not silently delete.

Reporting

Spotted something that breaks these rules? Email etherealfounderhq@gmail.com with a link and a one-line reason. We review every report and reply.
